Stock Photography Business- Make $$ With Your Digital Camera?

I am always looking for ways of creating different streams of income without building websites and doing other kinds of “online work” and that’s how I stumbled upon the stock photography business. Stock photography refers to “stock photos” which are pictures that ordinary people take and sell them at online marketplaces Stock photographers take pictures with a digital camera or even their cell phone and then sell them to lots of different people online.

There is definitely a lot to learn in the Stock photography business to be successful and the best person to learn from is Raven Jackson, the founder of Mycamerabiz.com. You may have heard of Raven or Mycamerabiz.com as she has been in big name publications like MSNBC, AOL, Entrepreneur magazine, CNN, USA Today and Yahoo. They all got wind of the fact that Raven was making $1000’s of dollars every month from selling photos online that she took with a $59 digital camera and even some that she took with her cell phone.

All you need is a Basic Digital Camera or Cell phone Camera but they do need to have at least 10 mega pixel capabilities. The only other thing you must know is how to take a good looking that will sell. Things like angles, expressions, lighting, shadow and posturing must be understood, but Raven can teach you all of that and more at mycamerabiz.com.

So Here is How it Works:

1. You take photos with your camera

2. You upload the photos to stock photography databases.

3. When people visit these sites looking for specific photographs for their websites/magazine article/etc they search the database to find what they are looking for and then pay for the rights to use your pictures.

You can sell the same pictures over and over again by just leaving them listed. For example there was a man that listed a photo of his daughter in the local library in 2007. This photo still gets at least 95 monthly downloads at $4.50 per download. - That’s $427 a month for a picture taken 5 years ago!

Who actually buys your pictures?

Lawyers, teachers, Graphic artists, Real Estate Agents, Big corporations, Online marketers, Travel agents, Merchants just to name a few.

There is no actual selling or meeting customers involved.

  • NO boss
  • NO deadlines
  • NO advertising
  • NO financial risk
  • NO computer skills
  • NO making phone calls
  • NO selling of anything
  • NO websites to build or promote

So why isn’t everyone making an average of $219 per day like Raven? They simply don’t know what she knows about the stock photography business.

Disclaimer: You need to Be Serious About This to Make Money

Be warned if you have no interest in photography and are just looking for a paycheck this may not work as well for you. If you are not serious about this and only take pictures of trees in your backyard you won’t be as successful as someone that takes their digital camera everywhere they go to capture life as it happens.

Pictures of buildings, landscapes, elderly people enjoying life, children, and just crowds of people among other things will be high sellers so if you do this be serious about it and have your digital camera on you at all times. You never know when an unexpected moment that you download will make you over $1000 in monthly residuals.
